Darren Borrowman

Darren began his filmmaking career in his hometown of Telegraph Cove, B.C. as a 2nd unit Production Assistant on Free Willy. Although only twelve years old, he caught the filmmaking bug and purchased a camera to begin making short films. After attending the Phoenix Theatre Program at the University of Victoria and travelling abroad, Darren enrolled in Film Production at VFS.

Darren began working in the Vancouver film industry in 2006, in a variety of departments on shows such as The Week the Women Went for CBC, Smallville,and X-Files: I Want to Believe. More recently, Darren has worked as an independent director, producer and editor on the Leo nominated web series Bob and Andrew, numerous award-winning short films, as well as his first feature film, Do Something With Your Life.

Darren has been providing support and mentoring students with VFS since 2007, and enjoys the reward of helping tell new stories and supporting creative visions.
