VFS faculty members are working industry professionals and artists with experience at the forefront of digital design. Our instructors know intimately what is needed from the next generation digital designers. In addition to their experience as entertainment, technology, and business professionals, our instructors are dedicated teachers committed to conveying their passion and knowledge to students.
Head of Digital Design
Miles is a seasoned, enterprise-level leader, whose passions are not only on the technical and interpersonal level, but go beyond into establishing strategic processes, defining cultures, and leading conceptual-level innovation. His knowledge base stretches across human-centered innovation, branding, social and console game development, consumer insight strategies, interactive design, natural user interfaces, and educational design.
In recent years Miles lead the incubation process for developing new IP opportunities at Microsoft Game Studios, and launched online games at BigPark, a company focused on pushing the technical and experiential limits of casual games.
Before moving into games, Miles worked as a Creative Director and Producer on digital design projects with some of the world's top dive resorts, eco-organizations, and entertainment brands, including, Bodog, Adobe, National Geographic, Tourism BC, Divers Alert Network (DAN), Poets Cove Seaside Resort, Deep Sea Divers Den, Ocean Frontiers, and Ocean Village Resorts.
Miles holds a PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) Master Instructor designation and has lived in and explored many corners of our globe, both above and below the water. Miles is an avid traveler, photographer, foodie, and athlete, who draws inspiration from an endless travel journal filled with wondrous tales and inspiring imagery.
Miles has been involved in every aspect of the Digital Design program as a student, mentor, instructor, senior instructor, and now Head of Department. He is an expert in the process of design, who enables students to produce amazing results by creating a playful and collaborative student experience.
