Writing for Film, Short Scripts

A film and television writer, Dean has penned ten feature screenplays to date. His dark sardonic style has gained him fans far and wide. Producer Al Magee once referred to him as "the third Coen brother". Dean also works as a freelance journalist and researcher and is conversant on a diverse range of subjects including crop circles, siege weaponry and cellular black holes.

Dean's feature film, Bottomfeeders, a dark romantic comedy, is currently in development with producer Rick Warden. The Big Wheat, a feature crime comedy, is in development with Director/Producer Dwayne Beaver (The Rhino Brothers) for Movie Central. Dean also has a half-hour comedy series, High and Mighty, being developed with Producer Colin Brunton (Highway 61, Hedwig and the Angry Inch).

A graduate of both The Canadian Film Centre's film and television writing programs, he received an A&E scholarship and a CTV Fellowship to the Banff Television Festival. Dean is also a graduate of York University (English), and Ryerson University (Magazine Journalism). His writing has appeared in such publications as Cottage Life, and Canada 's History Magazine, The Beaver.
