VFS Workrooms are free monthly sessions designed to help you apply your creativity for success in post-secondary studies. From learning how to approach your portfolio pieces to understanding storytelling principles, VFS Workrooms will help you explore new ways of thinking creatively. All you need to attend our online sessions is a pen, paper, and a device with a camera.

Seats are limited, so apply now! Once we’ve received your application, we’ll review it and send you an e-mail to confirm your seat has been reserved.

Show, Don’t Tell: Principles of Storytelling (online)

Whatever medium you choose – film, games, design, animation – you need to tell a story that everyone can not only understand but also immerse themselves in.

VFS introduces Show, Don't Tell, a free 90-minute online session which goes over the fundamentals of storytelling and storyboarding.

Learning Outcomes – Participants will:

  • Understand universal principles in storytelling.
  • Explore which media tools best tell your story.
  • Apply principles to your own work in order to have the maximum effect on your audience.

Find Your Voice: How to Build a Creative Portfolio (online)

How do you build a competitive creative portfolio when applying to a post-secondary arts institution? What are the admissions team and faculty looking for?

Vancouver Film School introduces Find Your Voice, a free 90-minute online session that provides practical knowledge and examples on what to do (and what to avoid) in order to successfully apply.

Learning Outcomes – Participants will:

  • Gain confidence building a creative portfolio to apply for a post-secondary institution.
