VFS Wins 3rd Straight School of the Year Award

By VFS Web Team, on June 1, 2012

It's a hat trick!
Vancouver Film School has been awarded School of the Year at the 2012 CG Student Awards! It's the third year in a row VFS has won the title at the CGSAs, which celebrate excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates worldwide.

Meanwhile, 3D Animation & Visual Effects graduates Woong Park and Leonardo Bonisolli swept the coveted Canadian Studio Internship category. Both of them graduated in December and will now have the opportunity to work at leading studios Prime Focus or MPC. We couldn't be more thrilled for you two!
Woong Park won for his modeling reel, Oh My Grandma, while it was Leonardo Bonisolli's Drink Drunk that got the attention of the judges, who include industry luminaries from companies like Pixar, Dreamworks, and Double Negative.
[Update: Kevin Lopez has also won a studio internship!]
School of the Year is awarded based on a points system that takes into account both student winners and finalists. The competition was especially tight this year, and included many top schools from around the world. We see this as a big win not just for our 3D program but for Vancouver and its vital place in the global CG community. What talent!
