VFS Grads Go Rogue

By VFS Web Team, on December 17, 2016

The Christmas season is an incredibly rich time for movie releases, and Santa brought us a doozy this year with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The Internet has been ablaze with great buzz, so you may have a hard time finding tickets this opening weekend. But if Star Wars has taught us anything over the years, it's not to give up hope!

Director Gareth Edwards aims to honour the legacy of Star Wars with Rogue One, which is part of Disney’s reconstruction efforts. Reviews have said that the film is blazing its own path, praising it as even better than The Force Awakens -- an undeniable hit with fans. Not that we’re surprised. Who better to mine George Lucas’s properties than Disney?

The film has an amazing cast, including Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso) and Diego Luna (Cassian Andor). In the world of Rogue One, they’re both part of a rebellious team tasked with stealing the Death Star plan from the evil Empire – a mission that propels them into the belly of an epic adventure.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of the special effects and the efforts of our grads from 3D Animation + Special Effects and Sound Design for Visual Media. They are:

James Mcphail (Creature TD)
Juan Carlos Mendoza (Digital Compositor)
Christine Peterson (Senior Compositor)
Jeremy Bowker (Sound Effects Editor)
Rhea Darch (Visual Effects Artist)

Seriously. How awesome does that look?

Congrats, all!
