About Goddard College
Goddard represents a tradition of innovative education, radical activism including anti-fascist pedagogy, self-directed research, and writing under the guidance of professional authors, journalists, poets, and dramatic writers. Our philosophy is based on inclusivity, community, rigorous study, creativity, and innovation.
The overarching theme of Goddard’s MFA program is “The writer in the world.” Our faculty is engaged in social movements, labor unions, and insightful advocacy journalism. The Online MFA program is focused on using technology to promote inclusivity and connect as a global community. We encourage engagement with society and the search for positive transformations. Beyond writing about social and political issues, other self-directed study involves teaching and publishing projects within the students’ own communities. The program is anchored around two onsite or virtual intensives per year.
