Job Scope

Reporting to the Senior Instructor and Head of Animation & Visual Effects, the Part Time Instructor is responsible for delivering curriculum effectively and providing feedback to students.

Core Responsibilities

  • Working from a course outline, develop lesson plans detailing what will be taught and how the course material will be delivered.
  • Work closely with the Senior Instructor to ensure class curriculum is accurate and up to date and is communicated to students in a clear and concise manner.
  • Class attendance and grading.
  • Individual guidance of students where appropriate.
  • Punctual and conscientious management of classes.
  • Collaboration with Senior Instructor and faculty on progression of courses.
  • Collaboration with administration staff on resources and equipment issues.
  • Attendance at staff meetings (as necessary).
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Animation & Visual Effects.

Job Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree (or equivalent) and minimum 3 years of industry experience or minimum 10 years of industry experience.
  • Experience in 3D animation, predominantly Character Animation, using Maya. A Fluent understanding of the software is necessary.
  • Prior experience in a Lead or Supervisor role in Industry, with a keen trained eye.
  • Ability to communicate ‘visually??™ using body and facial motions in a classroom setting.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and Flash an asset.
  • A good understanding of the Classical Animation principles.
  • Experience in 2D animation for planning an asset.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a high caliber of professional work.
  • Ability to lead workshops, lectures and seminars.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
