Job Scope

Part-time Intimacy for the Actor instructor for our VFS Acting Programs the 4-month foundational Essentials Program and the One Year Acting for Film + TV diploma program. The experienced Instructor needs to have specific industry recognized Intimacy coordinator or Intimacy Director experience Certified or with a high level of Intimacy education including intimacy for film, tv, theatre; consent/boundaries; bystander training; intimacy choreography, and union protocols.

This instructor also needs to have a wide range of knowledge in various core Acting techniques and the application of Intimacy to acting scenes. For specifics of the T3 Intimacy for the Actor course, please refer to the Course Outline, Lesson plans, Assignments, rubrics and support materials.

The instructor brings acting knowledge and experience to the team and possesses a strong sense of commitment, support and responsibility to the success of the overall vision of the Acting program. They will deliver the VFS model of education with a culture of inclusion, respect, exploration, imagination, discovery and critical thinking. Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver VFS Intimacy for the Actor curriculum with your experience and knowledge from personal and professional work; while respecting program Course outlines and Lesson plans
  • Provide students a creative, safe educational, respectful, inclusive, professional, diversity-aware environment to achieve exceptional learning outcomes
  • Utilize Moodle Learning system for grading, attendance, assignments, Lesson support materials
  • Be punctual and conscientious with class management
  • Collaboration with Head of Department, Senior Instructors, and faculty on on-going course development.
  • Collaboration with administration staff on resources and equipment requirements
  • Communicate to Administration and Senior team any important issues regarding students aligned with VFS policies and guidelines
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Deliver VFS Intimacy for the Actor curriculum with your experience and knowledge from personal and professional work; while respecting program Course outlines and Lesson plans

Job Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree and at least 3 years industry experience or 10 years of industry/professional experience.
  • Industry recognized Intimacy Coordinator or Intimacy Direction training, education and/or certification. For the specific T3 Intimacy for the Actor course the instructor must have industry certified courses, experience and/or Intimacy Coordinator/Intimacy Director accreditation to teach our VFS Intimacy for the Actor curriculum.
  • Demonstrate a high caliber of professional work.
  • Prior teaching experience with post-secondary students is an asset
  • Understanding of the learning profile of young adults entering the film and acting craft & industry.
  • Diverse experience in various modalities, styles and genres in acting for film, TV, web, voice, improv and/or theatre is an asset.
  • Experience leading workshops, lectures, and seminars.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of current industry/actor education trends and evolution
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Zoom.
  • Background check required as this role works with students and youth
