Job Scope

Please note: This vacancy is outside of Canada. We are looking for someone who can work from their own country and assist. Should have experience in student recruitment.

Reporting to the Director, International Admissions & Business Development, the International Recruitment and Business Development Specialist is based outside of Canada and is responsible for building and fostering offshore international partnerships, with effective recruitment and sales strategies, in Canadian target markets to increase VFS enrolment numbers.

International Recruitment and Business Development Specialist must have pre-existing partnership networks established in key markets, a long-standing history of cooperating with offshore education partners (i.e. agents, high schools, trade commissioners, event organizers, College/Universities, language schools, publication entities), and must have sound experience executing all recruitment activities and practices for previous institutions with an outstanding enrolment track record.

The candidate MUST demonstrate they've been a top enrolment producer for a former post-secondary institution or language school, and be very performance-driven.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engages in offshore international marketing/recruitment practices and initiatives.
  • Provides offshore support and training to agents and partner institutions.
  • Manages the assignment of students to the respective VFS admissions advisor.  
  • Conducts presentations, webinars, info. sessions, workshops, events, faculty visit planning, and regular agent visits and activities.
  • Conducts daily lead follow-up and all recruitment activities. 
  • Tracks all international lead data, student applications and enrolments, agent performance reports and agent activity planning, business expenditures, and budget/activity reports following budgetary and travel policy guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains project timelines and provides weekly activity updates.
  • Travels extensively throughout the year to attend events and partner visits within assigned regions.
  • Performs network growth activities in assigned and emerging markets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Business Administration or a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in a recruitment role for a former institution. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with internal/external relations.
  • Goal-oriented with a passion to succeed, flexible, works well independently, and under pressure.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience of recruiting international students, exceeding annual enrolment targets and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills with extremely good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, highly organized.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and initiative with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to present a professional and positive image and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
