Vancouver Film School (VFS) and IBERO University have come together to offer students the opportunity to earn a scholarship and study at Canada’s premier post-secondary entertainment arts institution.

 

WHAT'S AVAILABLE

3D Animation & Visual Effects (12 months):

  • One full (100%) tuition scholarship
  • One half (50%) tuition scholarship
  • Two partial (C$18,000) tuition scholarships

Digital Design (12 months):

  • One full (100%) tuition scholarship
  • One half (50%) tuition scholarship
  • Two partial (C$15,000) tuition scholarships

 

The deadline for scholarship application is May 20, 2020.
Winners will be notified on a later date.

Vancouver Film School

Ranked one of the top global film schools by Variety Magazine, VFS offers immersive one-year programs in film production, 3D animation and visual effects, game design, and more. VFS is at the heart of the entertainment and media industries’ transformation. In 2019, VFS alumni were credited on 17 of the 20 highest grossing films and on 6 of the 10 best-selling video games worldwide.

Scholarship Information

 

 

Vancouver Film School and IBERO University, encouraging the international development of their students, will grant a total of eight scholarships for professional career learning.

 

  • Two scholarships of 100% tuition, one for each program:
    • 3D Animation & Visual Effects
    • Digital Design
  • Two scholarships of 50% tuition, one for each program:
    • 3D Animation & Visual Effects
    • Digital Design
  • Two partial scholarships of C$18,000 for:
    • 3D Animation & Visual Effects
  • Two partial scholarships of C$15,000 for:
    • Digital Design

IBERO students:

  • Applicants must have valid passport for the length of the one-year program + 180 additional days.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in IBERO University during January-May 2020 semester and to be a candidate to graduate on December 2020 from one of the following programs:
    • Bachelor of Interactive Design
    • Bachelor of Graphic Design
    • Bachelor of Industrial Design
    • Bachelor of Communication
  • Applicants must be a regular student and have a GPA greater than or equal to 80/100.
  • Applicants must have a valid proof of English level by one of the following certifications (consider they are valid for only 2 years):
    • IELTS Band 6.5 – Academic level
    • TOEFL – score of 80 internet-based (iBT), or 550 paper-based (PBT)
    • PTE – score of 58-64
    • TOEIC – score of 785
    • B2 First (formerly Cambridge English: First (FCE)) – Grade A
    • C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)) – Grade C
    • LPI – Level 5
    • Duolingo - score of 105 or higher
  • Applicants must provide IBERO University academic record.
  • Applicants cannot be in conditional academic status or have disciplinary reports in academic record.

 

IBERO alumni:

  • Applicants must have valid passport for the length of the one-year program + 180 additional days.
  • Applicants must be graduated from one of IBERO University following programs (in the previous 2 years):
    • Bachelor of Interactive Design
    • Bachelor of Graphic Design
    • Bachelor of Industrial Design
    • Bachelor of Communication
  • Applicants must have a GPA greater than or equal to 80/100.
  • Applicants must have a valid proof of English level by one of the following certifications (consider they are valid for only 2 years):

IMPORTANT NOTE: These requirements are mandatory, without exception.

  • The deadline to apply is May 20, 2020, at 23:00 (Mexico time). Late submissions or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • The full-tuition and half-tuition scholarships granted are effective for the following start dates: June, August, and October 2020. For partial scholarships, start dates can be June, August, and October 2020, and January 2021.
  • If selected, the applicant must cover their flight, accommodation, meals, and international insurance (assess approximate cost of living in Canada).
  • If selected, the applicant must complete an online VFS application (this will be specified by a VFS advisor).
  • The selected winners will need to send their portfolio required by VFS for the program selected.
  • If the winner cannot commit to attending VFS for any reason within a week of being notified that he or she has been selected to receive a scholarship, another scholarship winner will be chosen.
  • Applicants who have already been accepted into a VFS program can apply for this scholarship; however, this scholarship must be used singularly and cannot be used in combination with any other bursary or scholarship already received. Previous applicants must re-submit their application with a completed scholarship application form.

IMPORTANT NOTE: VFS reserves the right to cancel this scholarship initiative at its sole discretion, in the event of any administrative conflict or error, and in case there are less than 25 applicants.

  1. Each applicant must prepare a video in English, with a maximum duration of 60 seconds, including the following:
    1. You must begin by mentioning: name and bachelor’s degree.
    2. You should make a brief statement of your intentions to participate in the contest.
    3. You must show off your best project (or a summary of your best projects) and detail the work and challenges involved.
    4. In case of team projects, you must clearly specify your role on it.
    5. The video must be posted on YouTube or Vimeo and be accessible by a direct link.
  2. Valid passport for the length of the one-year program + 180 additional days. (in PDF format).
  3. IBERO University academic record (in PDF format).
  4. Valid proof of English (in PDF format).
  5. Two recommendation letters (one of it must be from IBERO University faculty members). Take note that the second recommendation letter has not to be from a family member or friend. These must be written in English.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All these documents must be in English and files cannot exceed 1MB.

  • The selection of winners will be held by a joint committee composed by professors of IBERO University and Vancouver Film School.
  • Winners will be notified on a later date.

The committee decision is definitive and unappealable.

Vancouver Film School reserves the right to cancel this competition at any time, at its sole discretion, in the event of any administrative conflict or error. Vancouver Film School reserves the right to modify the rules of this contest in any way or at any time as long as reasonable notice is given. This competition is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, State, and local laws and regulations.

Acceptance of a scholarship allows Vancouver Film School to use your name, photograph or likeness and testimonials in print, broadcast or online media in perpetuity, in any manner in which VFS may deem appropriate in connection with promoting this competition or any other competition or promotion sponsored by VFS, without further compensation.

By participating in this competition, you agree that Vancouver Film School, members of the Selection Committee and those involved in the development, production, implementation and distribution of this competition and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, service providers, and agencies and their directors, officers, agents, employees, attorneys, and any other person or entity associated with such entities and/or this compassion (hereafter collectively called the “Sponsors”) are not liable for any claims, damages, losses or injuries, including third party claims, arising from or relating to, in whole or in part, this competition, including your entry and participation in this competition, the submission of your application package, the evaluation of your application package, acceptance, use or misuse of the scholarship or any injury to you or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from downloading or receiving via return e-mail any part of this competition information.

You further agree that you will not hold Vancouver Film School, their affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, agents, employees, attorneys, and any other person or entity associated with Vancouver Film School liable for any claims, losses, damages or injuries, arising from or relating to their use of your name or address for mailing and any other promotional materials. You also agree that in the event of any third-party claims, damages, losses or injuries arising from or relating to this competition, you will indemnify Sponsors from any and all such claims, including the attorney’s fees related thereto. Sponsors shall not be liable for applications that are delayed, lost, misdirected, mis-delivered, marked postage-due, illegible, mutilated, incorrect or incomplete and such entries will not be eligible for this competition.

This scholarship has no cash value.
