Payment / Refund Policy

Thinking about a VFS education? Start by speaking with a VFS Admissions Advisor. We know it can be challenging to plan and pay for your education, so VFS offers many different ways to help you structure your payments, including interest-free payment plans. Your Advisor is an expert who can walk you and/or your family through all of your options for financial assistance and payment.

Fees are quoted and payable in Canadian dollars and can be paid by cash, cheque, money order, Visa, MasterCard or wire transfer.

If you are planning to use financial aid or loans, pre-approval may be required. Speak with an Advisor for further assistance or clarification.

Fee Payment Schedule:

  1. Application Fee

    You must include your CDN$50.00 Application Fee payment with your application. If you do not already have an Advisor, one will be assigned upon application to help you through the rest of the process.

  2. Tuition Confirmation Deposit

    Once you receive an acceptance letter, you will be asked to sign a Student Enrolment Confirmation and Contract and pay an initial tuition deposit to secure your seat in the program. This initial deposit indicates to us your commitment, and allows us to secure a seat for you at the current tuition rate for your program. The deposit amount is based on the cost of your specific program, your financial plan, and your method of payment.

  3. Balance of Tuition

    The balance of your tuition will be paid as per your agreed upon financial plan.

Refund Policy:

The following refund policy is in accordance with Section 37 & 38 of the By-Laws of the Private Career Training Institutions Agency ("PCTIA"). To be considered for a refund, students must submit a written notice of withdrawal to VFS by registered mail, fax, email or delivery to VFS Educational Administration. If students hand-deliver their written notice, they need to have VFS mark the notice when it was received, and provide students with a copy for their records. Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal. Refunds are calculated only on the Tuition Fee and are based on days of education provided excluding weekends, holidays, and scheduled school breaks. Where total fees have not yet been collected, VFS is not responsible for refunding more than has been collected to date and a student may be required to make up for monies due under the contract.

  1. Refunds before the program of study starts:

    (a) If VFS receives written notice of your withdrawal within seven days after this contract is made, and before the start of the Program, VFS will retain the lesser of 5% of the Tuition Fee due under this contract or $250.

    (b) If after seven days after the contract is made, VFS receives written notice of your withdrawal 30 days or more before the start of the Program, VFS will retain the lesser of 10% of the Tuition Fees due under this contract, or $1,000.

    (c) If after seven days after the contract is made, VFS receives written notice of your withdrawal less than 30 days before the start of the Program, VFS will retain the lesser of 20% of the Tuition Fees due under this contract, or $1,300.

  1. Refunds after the program of study starts:

    (a) If VFS receives written notice of your withdrawal, or if you are dismissed up to and including 10% of the Program's duration has elapsed, VFS will retain 30% of the Tuition Fee due under this contract.

    (b) If VFS receives written notice of your withdrawal, or if you are dismissed where more than 10% and up to and including 30% of the Program's duration has elapsed, VFS will retain 50% of the Tuition Fee due under this contract.

    (c) If you withdraw or are dismissed where more than 30% of the Program's duration has elapsed, no refund will be issued.

  1. Student Authorization Related Withdrawals (International Students):

    (Note: an international student is a person who is not a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident or has been determined under the Immigration & Refugee Protection Act to be a Convention Refugee).
    VFS will retain the lesser of 10% of the Tuition Fee due under the contract or $400 from international students who apply for and:

    (a) are denied a study permit authorization from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, or

    (b) do not receive authorization prior to the start of program study, provided that

    (i) the student notifies VFS of the circumstances in subsection 5.3 (a) on or before the first day the Program is scheduled to begin, and

    (ii) the student, within a reasonable time, provides documentation of the circumstances in subsection 5.3 to VFS, by way of a copy of the denial letter.

  1. Other Refund Policy Requirements:

    (a) Where a student does not meet VFS's and/or Program specific minimum requirements for admission, through no misrepresentation or fault of his or her own, VFS will refund all Tuition Fees paid under the contract, less the applicable non-refundable application or registration fee for the Program.

    (b) VFS will pay refunds within 30 days of VFS receiving written notification of withdrawal and all required supporting documentation, or within 30 days of VFS's written notice of dismissal.
