Experience All That the Sound Design Program Offers
VFS’s industry-leading Sound Design diploma program trains artists in a full-immersion studio environment to tell stories through sound – all in just 1 short year. Learn how our Sound Design students have access to world-class facilities including an ADR lab, three sound mixing studios, & a Foley room, and how VFS trains you faster than any other school so that you can enter the industry and join an alumni that’s worked on Loki, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Oscar-winner Dune: Part Two.
PLUS, all attendees will receive a 25% discount code for our ‘Intro to Pro Tools’ workshop through VFS CONNECT – our online and in-person short-track workshops & certificate courses.
Experience an ADR Demo
ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) is the process of recording dialogue to replace lines initially recorded on set. In this hands-on demo, you’ll experience how dialogue is recorded for both animation and games. Live dialogue will be recorded for the animated short Mind Control Machine as well as for VFS student game Paper Samurai.
Experience a Sound Mixing Demo
VFS’s three mix labs are for both sound designing and editing. Through two demos led by VFS faculty, you’ll get a first-hand overview of the processes involved in designing and editing sound for animation & games. One lab will be dedicated to creating sound for the animated short Mind Control Machine and a second lab for a video game currently in development.
Experience a Foley Demo
Foley is the art of reproducing everyday sounds (from footsteps to fight scenes) for film, TV, and beyond. Foley Artists act out these movements in real-time to match what’s happening on screen. Through a sound design demo experience led by VFS faculty, you’ll experience this process live as sounds are recorded for a game.
Alumni Showcase and Q&A
We’ll be joined by an alum from VFS’s Sound Design for Visual Media program (stay tuned for this announcement!). They’ll discuss their VFS student experience, how they launched their industry career as a sound designer, and share insights on how to launch your own career.
Discover the Power of Game Audio Implementation
An Audio Implementer identifies where a game requires sound, managing their team to ensure all assets are designed, tested, and delivered. Join VFS Sound Design Instructors in our PC lab to learn about the tools, software, and processes used to build memorable sound experiences as they implement these techniques live into a video game
Meet our Sound Design Faculty
Meet Senior Instructor Brad Hillman as he discusses the 1-year journey of a Sound Design for Visual Media student at VFS. An experienced sound designer with over 15 years of industry experience, Brad has worked in every aspect of film sound and has mixed nearly 1,000 hours of film and TV productions. His honours include a Gemini Award, three Gemini nominations, Genie Award nominations, and a Cinema Audio Society Award.
