Whether you have prior training in a related field or no experience at all, our entry-level workshops have everything you need to take meaningful steps towards portfolio development for post-secondary study and your dream career.
These workshops are designed for anyone wanting to gain a basic understanding of post-production sound design.
*Upon successful completion of either of these CONNECT workshops, the cost can be deducted from any full-time Advanced Production program tuition at VFS. Only one discount may be applied. Contact a VFS Advisor for eligibility.

Sound Design: Intro to Pro Tools (On-Campus)
Looking to get started in Sound Design? Jump into this two-day workshop where you will gain a basic understanding of Pro Tools – a digital audio workstation – in an exciting hands-on experience. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to set up a Pro Tools session and understand the basics of sound mixing.
- Acquire a beginner’s knowledge of Pro Tools.
- Learn the different functions of Pro Tools in the context of post-production audio for film & TV.
- Master how to set up, record, edit, and import audio into a Pro Tools session.
- Basic knowledge of Mac operating system
Students are not required to have any previous training or experience.

Sound Design: Intro to Game Audio (On-Campus)
This 2-day workshop will introduce students to key concepts and workflows in building audio for video games. Students will gain an understanding of how game audio pipelines work through hands-on learning and gain experience with the current tools used in the industry.
- Understand the key concepts of game audio and how they differ from other audio industries.
- Understand the workflow and basic pipelines of the game audio world.
- Acquire a beginner’s knowledge of audio implementation and middleware tools (software) used in game audio.
- Gain knowledge of a game engine and how game audio works within the context of the engine.
Students are not required to have any previous training or experience.
