Aspiring teen actors – get a head start on your acting training & reel-building.
Vancouver Film School has created a variety of Teen Acting Workshops for students ages 15-18 who are looking for introductory acting training. With offerings spanning comedy to horror, voice, and social media – there’s something for everyone. You’ll gain hands-on experience while building the prerequisite training and portfolio necessary to pursue VFS’s 1-year Acting for Film & Television.

* Upon successful completion of a SHORT-TRACK course, the cost can be deducted from any full-time Advanced Production program tuition at VFS. Only one discount may be applied. Contact a VFS Advisor for eligibility.

Teen Acting: Voice Acting (on-campus)
From the page to microphone, learn the art of voice acting in just two days. This interactive workshop covers script breakdown, character creation, and voice acting fundamentals for both video games and animation. Mornings will be spent developing fully embodied characters, auditioning for voice acting, and freeing the voice, while afternoons will be spent learning mic technique and recording in our sound studio (you get to take home the raw samplers of your work!). Finally, the workshop will conclude with an AMA, as a working voice actor gives you the inside scoop on the industry.
Day 1 (morning): Approach to Character
- Connect with your instrument and learn how to approach text organically
- Discover how VFS approaches the craft: commit with intention, story & character embodiment, and text analysis mastery
Day 1 (afternoon): Production (Games)
- Recording for video games
- Learn on-the-mic technique, then record & review scenes from video games
Day 2 (morning): Audition and Casting
- Learn the basics of voice acting auditions
- Cover everything from realistic high-stakes anime to other worldly creatures & fantastical beasts
Day 4 (afternoon): Production (Animation)
- Learn recording for animation
- Practice on-the-mic technique, then record & review animated scenes
- USB drive (to save and take home your work)
- English Level: All participants are required to speak and write English at an acceptable level. In order to succeed in any VFS program, you will need to understand technical terms and be conversant enough in English to participate in presentations and in-depth discussion. For this program we recommend an IELTS Band 6.0 – Academic level or equivalent.

Teen Acting: Comedic Improv (on-campus)
Learn the art of comedic acting. Discover how to think quickly, make bold choices, create hilarious characters & scenes on the spot, and how to turn wild ideas into fast comedic beats. No scripts, no limits – just big laughs and fast thinking. Perfect for fans of shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Murderville, and Game Changer.
Students are not required to have any previous training or experience.

Kick off the spookiest month of the year by exploring the line between the horrific and the hilarious. Learn how to mix creepy vibes with comedic twists by creating unforgettable characters that make audiences simultaneously laugh and scream. Inspired by series like Wednesday, What We Do in the Shadows, and The Last Kids on Earth.
Students are not required to have any previous training or experience.

Explore how your favourite influencers make viral content that gets millions of views and shares. Learn how to create funny videos, write punchy sketches, and craft content that pops on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Perfect for aspiring creators who love the fast-paced observational humor of Druskl, Saturday Night Live digital shorts, and online sketch creators like Brittany Broski.
