(Vancouver, B.C.) April 18th, 2018 – Vancouver Film School is announcing their sponsorship of the ECO Film Festival, providing a full tuition scholarship for the first time, marking 7 years of partnership between ECO and VFS. The scholarship is valued at over $40,000 CAD.

April 24th will see the ECO Film Festival return once more at the Cineteca Nacional de Mexico, an annual International Short Film Festival raising awareness on environmental topics, promoting audio-visual production, and ecological culture with solutions that balance human beings in Interaction with their environment.

Vancouver Film School’s commitment to environmental issues has fuelled a strong alliance with ECOFILM since 2012, one which has only grown through the years, promoting young students passionate about these subjects, and providing numerous scholarships along the way, including a full tuition scholarship for the first time for 2018. In providing this scholarship Vancouver Film School is enabling the winner to help bring their vision to life, pursuing and making demonstrable change on an environmental issue close to them.

VFS graduates have also had spectacular showings at the event, winning prizes for their creations and contributions. Sofia Auza, a VFS WP Grad has won twice with her short films, while Edson Castro, a VFS 3D Grad, has been a winner for best animation. VFS graduates have a long history of work in first class company and film projects, and are excited to see what the future holds for the recipients of each scholarship at the ECO Film Festival.

This continued partnership would not be possible if not for the efforts of Mercedes Alemán, Director of the Festival and Emannuel Acha, chairman of the board, for their invitation to VFS for this prestigious event, and their fantastic work on the event itself. Our partnership has evolved thanks to the work of great people, including Silvana Gesualdo, who’s fresh ideas regarding this partnership allowed for the leap from partial scholarships, to this new level of a VFS full Scholarship.
