VFS has claimed the #1 spot domestically and internationally for the past eight and six years, respectively.
Announcement Highlights:
- Vancouver Film School was named #1 on ACR's 'Top 25 for Animation Internationally' and 'Top 10 for Animation in Canada' lists as well as #1 in British Columbia.
- Nearly 200 schools across the globe were considered.

(VANCOUVER, B.C.) June 11, 2024 – Vancouver Film School has once again been named the #1 Global Animation School by Animation Career Review, securing the top spot in both 'Top 25 for Animation Internationally' and 'Top 10 for Animation in Canada', as well as #1 in British Columbia. This marks the eighth consecutive year that VFS has been first in Canada and sixth consecutive year as first internationally.
Other schools named alongside VFS include Vancouver Institute of Media Arts, Think Tank Training Centre, Algonquin College, Germany's Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, England's National Film and Television School, and Singapore's Nanyang Polytechnic.
Animation Career Review, which began publishing in 2012, started its rankings as a response to the high-volume of animators and game designers seeking out top-tier schools around the globe. Every degree-granting school is considered (with the exception of two-year community colleges), and ACR's end goal is to provide students and parents with access to the information necessary to make an informed decision about post-secondary education.
The publication's ranking criteria consists of a variety of factors including 'academic reputation', 'admissions selectivity', 'employment data', 'depth and breadth of the program faculty', 'value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness', 'graduation rate', and 'retention rate'. 195 schools were considered for the 2024 list.
