VFS is thrilled to be hosting Justin Richmond as the next guest in our AMA Industry Talk series. Justin follows in the footsteps of industry greats like Kevin Smith, Emmy-winning Director Michael Spiller, and Emmy-nominated Hallmark Director Ron Oliver. A visionary storyteller and Co-Creator of The Dragon Prince, Justin’s career spans both video games and television. Justin will dive into the origins of The Dragon Prince, how his background shaped the show’s cinematic worldbuilding, and what it takes to create meaningful, inclusive fantasy storytelling in today’s media landscape.
In-Production Bootcamp
Based on your area of interest – acting, animation, or writing – you will participate in a workshop tailored to your department that will give you direct knowledge and experience of how your role is involved in animation. All attendees will also attend a panel discussion with The Dragon Prince actors as they discuss the art of voice acting, their experience on the show, and how to become a voice actor for animation.
Then, on the final day, based on the work created through the Saturday workshops, all attendees will come together to collaborate on a final, polished animated scene that showcases the original script with animated characters and voice acting performances. While there is not a workshop for directors, directors are encouraged to register, as they will be able to observe Justin throughout the process, gaining an enhanced knowledge of how an industry director successfully directs animation.
