(Vancouver, BC) August 1, 2018 - Vancouver Film School (VFS) has announced a new industry partnership with global technology company, AMD. This exciting new facility is a joint effort to develop and support the next generation of programming, video gaming, animation, technologies and visual effects creators attending Vancouver Film School as they break out into the industry and launch their careers.

The vision of the new AMD Creator’s Lab at VFS was clear: to open a brand-new tech innovation hub for both students and Vancouver’s renowned professional animation, technology companies and VFX communities, giving them access to leading edge new technology tools and software powered by AMD’s Radeon™ Pro and Ryzen™.

Officially opening Monday, August 13th 2018 during this year’s SIGGRAPH event in Vancouver, BC, the AMD Creator’s Lab was built on campus at VFS, adjacent to the city’s digital production and developer hub.  This collaborative facility for students, artists and computer graphics professionals will offer an open working space for students and members of the community to discover and create. The AMD Creator’s Lab will feature powerful AMD-based workstations built to deliver better development performance, shortened load and rendering times, and will ultimately empower creators to pursue their wildest ideas and create without technological restraints.

Additionally, VFS also announced the launch of a new 8-month diploma program for Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) Design. This new program will make VFS one of the only schools in the world able to teach students how to develop and design on these new emerging platforms.  More details will be available to prospective students beginning in September.  VFS has stated that their aim is to develop the #1 AR/VR Design Program in the world within the next 24 months. This new program will be open to enrollment in early 2019.
