VFS’s COVID-19 readiness plan has been approved by the government of British Columbia and now allows for international students with a valid study permit to attend courses at VFS

Announcement Highlights:

  • Since October 20, 2020, amended federal travel restrictions have allowed students to enter Canada if their designated learning institution (DLI) has an approved readiness plan in place.
  • VFS’s COVID-19 readiness plan was approved by British Columbia’s Public Health Office.
  • While most activities remain online, VFS is delivering on-campus activities wherever the nature of the curriculum, classes, and production work allows.

(VANCOUVER, B.C.) November 24, 2020Vancouver Film School is proud to announce it has been approved to reopen to international students located outside of Canada. International students who possess or have been approved for a study permit and are travelling to Canada for a non-discretionary or non-optional purpose are now able to attend courses at VFS.

Since October 20, 2020, amended federal travel restrictions have allowed students to enter Canada if their designated learning institution (DLI) has an approved readiness plan in place. In order to reopen to international students who aren’t currently in Canada, British Columbia had to review VFS’s COVID-19 readiness plan to ensure it protects the health and safety of all students, staff, and the VFS community.

Consequently, VFS’s COVID-19 readiness plan approved by British Columbia’s Public Health Office. This plan includes safety guidelines on and off campus, including mandatory 14-day quarantining for new arrivals, mandatory mask-wearing, hand-washing protocols, physical distancing, and regular updates concerning new regulations put in place by federal and provincial health authorities.

Enrolled international students with a valid study permit can now travel to Canada to attend VFS, and those who wish to join VFS can inquire about registering for our 2021 intakes.

Please note that while most activities remain online, VFS is delivering on-campus activities wherever the nature of the curriculum, classes, and production work allows, and that all future travel to Canada will be subject to prevailing community health and safety trends. Anyone planning to travel should first review conditions in Vancouver and at VFS, and contact us to get more information about the level of on-campus delivery for a given program.

The complete and updated list of approved DLIs is available on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada web page. For more information, contact Scott Steiger, Director, International Admissions & Business Development: ssteiger@vfs.com.
