Vancouver Film School (VFS) and Tecnológico de Monterrey (TEC) have come together to offer TEC and EXATEC students the opportunity to earn a scholarship and study at Canada’s premier post-secondary entertainment arts institution. TEC students who are passionate about starting a professional career in the creative economy are invited to apply for a scholarship for VFS's one-year, intensive 3D Animation + Visual Effects, Film Production, or Programming for Games, Web + Mobile program.
 

TEC students:

3 grants 100% of tuition, one for each program:

  • 3D Animation + Visual Effects
  • Film Production
  • Programming for Games, Web + Mobile

6 grants 50% of tuition, two for each program:

  • 3D Animation + Visual Effects
  • Film Production
  • Programming for Games, Web + Mobile
     

EXATEC students:

3 grants 100% of tuition, one for each program:

  • Film Production
  • Programming for Games, Web + Mobile

How to Apply

  1. Each applicant must prepare a video in English, with a maximum duration of 60 seconds, including the following:
    1. Begin the video by mentioning your name, your TEC campus and your VFS program of interest
    2. You should make a brief statement of your intentions to participate in the chosen program.
    3. You must display a summary of your best projects and describe them while they are shown.
    4. In case of team projects, you must clearly specify your role on it, either verbally or through subtitles.
    5. The video must be posted on YouTube or Vimeo and be accessible by a direct link.
  2. Academic record (“tarjeta plan” in PDF format).
  3. TOEFL score of at least 550 or equivalent examination (in PDF format).
  4. Recommendation letter from an academic advisor indicating that the applicant is in academic good standing and doesn’t have any disciplinary actions on record. Please provide this documentation in PDF format.
  5. Fill in the application form.

Scholarship Requirements for TEC Students:

  • Valid passport for the length of the program + 180 additional days.
  • You must be enrolled in one of the Tecnológico de Monterrey campus during the August-December 2017 semester and meet the requirements to study abroad.
  • You must be regular student and have a GPA greater than or equal to 80/100.
  • Acceptable proof of your proficiency in English (if English is not yoru native language), which can include any of the following:
    • TOEFL score of 80 internet-based (iBT), or 550 paper-based (PBT)
    • TOEIC score of 785
    • IELTS Band 6.5- Academic level
    • LPI Level 5
    • FCE Cambridge "First Certificate in English" Level B2
    • Transcripts from an English-speaking high school or an accredited English-speaking post-secondary institution
    • Duolingo English test score of 61 or higher
    • IB English score of 5 or higher
    • Pearson Test of English score of 58 or higher
  • You must have at least 12 subjects approved.
  • After finishing the VFS program, you must have enough Tec courses left to attend at least one semester before complete graduation.
  • You cannot be in conditional academic status or have disciplinary reports in your academic record.
  • All these documents must be in English and files cannot exceed 1MB.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: These requirements are mandatory, without exception.

 

The deadline to apply is October 30, 2017. Late submissions or incomplete applications will not be received.

The scholarship granted is valid only for 2018 start dates and January 2019.

If selected, the student must cover their flight, accommodation, meals and international insurance.

Students must cover the Tec accreditation fee.

Selected candidates will be required to complete the registration of international programs, according to the guidelines of the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

The selection of winners will be held by a joint committee composed by professors of Tecnológico de Monterrey and Vancouver Film School.

Winners will be notified on November 21, 2017.

The committee decision is final and not subject to appeal.

 

 

Scholarship Requirements for ExATecs:

  • Applicant must have valid passport for the length of the program + 180 additional days
  • Applicant must be graduated from one of the Tecnológico de Monterrey campuses (professional career).
  • You must have a GPA greater than or equal to 80/100.
  • Acceptable proof of your proficiency in English (if English is not yoru native language), which can include any of the following:​
    • TOEFL score of 80 internet-based (iBT), or 550 paper-based (PBT)
    • TOEIC score of 785
    • IELTS Band 6.5- Academic level
    • LPI Level 5
