If you grew up gaming, you probably recall your childhood self begging your parents to let you stay up all night playing video games (but now, as an adult, you can barely make it past 10). Well, thanks to Science World, you can finally live out this fantasy as an adult!
On April 17, Science World hosts After Dark: Press Play for Science, the latest in their After Dark series. Entirely video game-themed, the event features industry talks, a variety of exhibits, and the opportunity to play an impressive collection of games created by Vancouver Film School’s very own Game Design and Programming for Games, Web & Mobile students and even two VFS instructors! Get your early bird tickets here.

THE VFS STUDENT GAMES AT SCIENCE WORLD’S AFTER DARK
We may have a bias here, but we’re most excited about the opportunity to play BloomTale, Meowmentum Mori, and Letter Lancers at Science World’s After Dark; no coins required!
Meowmentum Mori, the 2023 winner of Best Student Project at the Unity Awards, is a first-person single player speedrunning platformer where Mori, a novice catmage, faces a series of magical trials in a pocket universe to become a full-fledged catmage. The game was created by VFS students Apoorv Taneja, Ivan Restrepo, Pablo Moctezuma, Ivonne Medina, and John Santana. An exciting ‘development’ from the team behind Meowmentum Mori is coming soon – keep your eyes peeled on THE BLOG for more!
Created by VFS Game Design instructors David Hinds and Steven Kearney, Letter Lancers (currently on Steam!) is a 4-player couch co-op rogue-lite bullet-hell that will have you and your friends laughing your way through epic battles and fighting for the top score on the leaderboard. *VFS is not responsible for any friendships that may end in the process!
Finally, BloomTale, created by VFS students Max Choi, Hannah Dąbrowska, Sion K., Yuqi Hu, and Joshua Ingeneri, is a cozy flower shop simulation game where creativity meets management. Arrange beautiful compositions that speak the language of flowers, manage your shop, and satisfy your customers in a world of blooming possibilities. You can wishlist this one on Steam now.
