Casting Workbook Acting Scholarship


In an exclusive industry partnership, Casting Workbook and Vancouver Film School will award full and partial scholarship funding to aspiring actors hoping to join VFS’s comprehensive Acting for Film & Television and Acting Essentials programs in 2020.


What It's All About




Casting Workbook is an industry-leading application suite that relays actor portfolio materials to talent agencies, casting directors, and production teams across cities and continents. The platform has helped cast more than 346,000 roles in film, television, commercial, and voice-over work, with clients including Netflix, ABC, Universal, and Disney.



Vancouver Film School’s critically acclaimed one-year Acting for Film & Television and four-month Acting Essentials programs give students accelerated, industry-focused training in voice, movement, script, and motion capture performance.

Together, VFS and Casting Workbook aim to provide aspiring actors with the tools they need to succeed in the creative economy.

Scholarship Details

  • In partnership with Casting Workbook, VFS will be awarding one full-tuition scholarship to a qualified applicant for the 12-month Acting for Film & Television program, as well as one full-tuition scholarship to one applicant for the four-month Acting Essentials program. Additionally, VFS and Casting Workbook will award up to $250,000 in partial scholarships to runner-up applicants.
  • Scholarship opens October 28, 2019, and closes on December 1, 2019, at 12:01 a.m. PDT.
  • Scholarship is open to student applicants who are 17 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • Scholarship is open to applicants from anywhere in the world. (*International applicants outside North America will be subject to student visa permits, etc.)
  • The selection committee, chaired by Casting Workbook CEO Susan Fox, will personally select and announce the shortlist finalists and subsequent winners of the 2020 scholarships. Applicants will need to be enrolled at VFS for the 2020 school year.
  • All applicants must apply to enroll at VFS through the standard admissions process online, and then must submit their creative audition submission through Casting Workbook.

Application Process



The application process is simple, and is broken into two very important steps:


Note to applicants: No official scholarship application will be considered or reviewed until the applicant successfully completes both STEP 1 and STEP 2.




Scholarship application and creative audition submissions must be completed through Casting Workbook.

The full application process will require applicants to provide standard contact details and background information for review and consideration by Casting Workbook and VFS.

Upon successful completion, applicants will receive a confirmation notification email.


Winners will be notified directly by Vancouver Film School and Casting Workbook in December 2019 and will be announced publicly shortly thereafter.
