VFS will award up to $500,000 in scholarships, in honour of Creative Ambassador & VFS alum Kevin Smith.
Announcement Highlights:
- Vancouver Film School will award three full-tuition and three partial scholarships to the most-promising applicants across North America.
- The Ambassador Scholarship is valued at up to $500,000.
- Scholarships can be applied towards any of VFS’s programs (with the exception of English for Creative Arts).
- The scholarship, presented jointly by VFS and Kevin Smith, marks the latter’s final act as Creative Ambassador for VFS.
- Applications are currently open and will close on November 1, 2021.
(Vancouver, BC) October 8, 2021 - Vancouver Film School (VFS) and its Creative Ambassador Kevin Smith are pleased to announce the 2021 Kevin Smith Ambassador Scholarship. Eligible students who demonstrate the most-promising creative potential will be awarded with full or partial tuition to study at Canada’s premier entertainment-arts centre in Vancouver, Canada. This scholarship marks Kevin Smith’s final act as VFS’s Creative Ambassador – a role he first took on in 2020 that involved regular student mentorship and a Storyteller’s Studio AMA event in September 2021 “Just F#@king Create”.
The following will be awarded:
- Three (3) full tuition scholarship towards any program at VFS
- Three (3) partial (50%) tuition scholarships towards any program at VFS
- Tuition reductions of up to $10,000 for qualifying applicants
The Kevin Smith Ambassador scholarship, valued at up to $500,000, was developed to give students with a passion for the creative media arts to follow in Smith’s footsteps and pursue their passion at VFS. A VFS alum of the Film Production program, Kevin Smith has since received worldwide acclaim for his brilliant stories, intricate characters, and incisive dialogue in such films as Clerks, the Jay and Silent Bob franchise and more.
Applications are currently being accepted, and the deadline to apply is November 1 at 12:01 a.m. PDT. Winners will be announced by the end of November.
