VFS offers 14 post-secondary programs - taught by industry professionals - that are designed to launch your career in film & television, animation, VFX, games, or creative design.
NEW: Hybrid Production Centre Model
Through our new Hybrid Model, you can now train in select VFS programs through a combination of online & on-campus learning. Curriculum is divided into three stages for various backgrounds and skill levels. While Stage 1 is for creatives who need foundational training, students with prior experience/credentials may choose to start at a later stage so that they may focus on building their production portfolio.
This is VFS’s signature, hands-on training – delivered differently.

Advanced On-Campus Production Programs
VFS’s 1-year, fully in-person programs remain unchanged. This is the same production-based, industry-led experience, preparing you for the industry’s current practices and technologies. Our diploma programs have always centered around immersing you in production, for a hands-on experience that closely reflects real industry environments and workflows.
School of Film & Television
Five programs encompass all areas of the entertainment industry, from ideation to post-production. Throughout your one year of hands-on training, you’ll be supported by our veteran industry instructors & mentors as you work towards building a polished production portfolio that showcases your skill set to studios in Vancouver and globally.
School of Animation & Visual Effects
Three programs immerse you in one year of intense training, in a space that reflects real-world animation studios. Supported by veteran industry animators & mentors, you’ll create a studio-ready reel that showcases your skills and prepares you for a career in animation, modeling, concept art, or 3D & VFX.
School of Games & Creative Design
Three programs take you through the entire pipeline of creative design, either in game development or digital design. Receive hands-on training from our veteran industry instructors & mentors as you create games, applications, motion designs, or user experiences (in some cases for real-world clients) culminating in a final, professional-quality portfolio.
Preparatory Programs
Our Preparatory Programs are designed for students to gain foundational experience in the creative media arts. Each program has been developed to provide you with the building blocks of your creative sill set and broaden your experience. The majority of students who complete these programs go on to pursue an Advanced Production Program at VFS.
