What are the VFS Summer Intensives?
For individuals considering a full-time education in the entertainment arts, VFS Summer Intensives provide unique opportunities to spend a week inside VFS and experience what our programs offer. The 7 different Summer Intensives are specifically designed to give you the insight needed to make an informed decision about your future education choices. It's our goal to provide you with an immersive week inside our school and answer any questions you might have about VFS. Under the guidance of our faculty of respected industry professionals, you'll learn in a fast-paced, exciting environment while getting valuable hands-on experience – and having fun!

Do I need High School/Industry experience in order to take a Summer Intensive program?
Not at all!
Is there an age restriction for the Summer Intensives?
Students must confirm they are 16 years of age or older at the beginning of the workshop in order to register.
What are the hours each day of the Summer Intensives?
Class hours are typically 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day. You will receive a full schedule before your Intensive begins. An orientation session will take place at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of your Intensive. There will also be a Pizza Mix & Mingle lunch with VFS Admissions Advisors on the first day of Summer Intensives where you can ask them all your questions and set up advising appointments with them during the week. You'll be able to find out more about VFS, your preferred program, and what it takes to apply and get accepted. In addition, you will have an opportunity to tour VFS campuses with one of our Admissions Advisors.
What kind of accommodations do you offer?
VFS does not offer accommodations — such as dorms — during the Summer Intensives. However, listed below you will find a few suggestions for hotels and accommodations located close to VFS:

What is included in the cost of each Intensive?
The Summer Intensive fee includes the full curriculum, materials, and a certificate of completion. When you've finished your intensive, you'll also have some new work to help define your future creative path.
If I apply to a full-time VFS program, will the cost of the Summer Intensive be applied towards my tuition?
Yes, you will be eligible to apply 50% of the dollar value of up to two Summer Intensive programs towards your full-time program tuition if you enroll within 24 months of completing a Summer Intensive. However, enrollment is subject to normal VFS Admissions processes, including availability, start dates, and class capacity.
Do I receive course credit towards a full-time VFS program if I take a Summer Intensive?
We can't offer course credit for Summer Intensives at this time. These courses are specifically designed to provide students with an in-depth look at what you will experience as a student in our full-time programs and therefore do not represent any one specific course credit.
I am an international student. What do I need to do in order to attend a VFS Summer Intensive?
You do not need a study permit to attend a Summer Intensive. You MAY require a visa, though. Please see the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website to determine what you might need. VFS is not able to issue special letters of invitation for Summer Intensives, and it is the applicant's sole responsibility to apply for any required visas or permits before attending a Summer Intensive.
What are the terms and conditions?
- All fees must be paid in advance, and in full.
- If a Intensive does not reach its minimum capacity, the program will be cancelled and registrants will receive a full refund. A cancellation fee will not be applied.
- As long as you register for a full-time VFS program within 24 months of your Intensive, 50% of the cost of up to two Summer Intensive Programs will be applied towards your tuition.
- Credits from a Intensive will not be given retroactively to current VFS full-time students or alumni.
- Tuition paid towards the intensive program is not protected by the PTIB student training completion fund. For more information visit: Ministry of Advanced Education
Refunds before the program of study starts:
If VFS receives tuition, VFS will refund the tuition that was paid in relation to the program in which the student is enrolled if VFS receives a notice of withdrawal from the student no later than seven days after the effective contract date and before the contract start date;
After seven days after the effective contract date and:
i. at least 30 days before the contract start date, VFS may retain up to 10% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract, to a maximum of $1,000.
ii. less than 30 days before the contract start date, VFS may retain up to 20% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract, to a maximum of $1,300.
Refunds after the program of study starts:
If VFS receives a notice of withdrawal from a student, or if VFS delivers a notice of dismissal to a student and the date VFS delivers the notice to the student is, after the contract start date:
i. but before 11% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, VFS may retain up to 30% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract.
ii. and including 11% and more but before 30% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, VFS may retain up to 50% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract.
iii. and at 30% or more of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, no refund will be provided.
