Whether you’re an aspiring or established filmmaker, actor, game designer, animator, writer, or simply have a love for all things creative, VFS CONNECT provides the tools and creative industry training you need to start your creative portfolio building, prepare you for a full-time program at VFS, or even to help you pivot in your career. 1. Something for Everyone
VFS CONNECT offers three types of learning experiences that span Film, 3D Animation & Visual Effects, Acting, Game Design, Digital Design, Writing, Sound Design, and VR/AR:
- Short-Track Workshops: Ideal for beginners and those looking to add new software to their skill sets, these four-day workshops (over two consecutive weekends) introduce you to a variety industry-standard software – a perfect intro to the tools being used right now by professionals across the creative industries. Examples of software taught through CONNECT are Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, Adobe Creative Cloud, Pro Tools, and more.
- Certificate Courses: These 7-8-week courses (once/week, typically in the evenings) are a deeper dive into the fundamentals of a variety of creative industries from game design, to writing, filmmaking, acting, and more. You’ll emerge with the prerequisites needed to apply for a full-time VFS program as well as a strong portfolio of work. Students receive an official certificate upon completion.
- Seasonal: If you’re a high school student, we offer Creative Break (2-day, in-person workshops over spring break in March) and Summer Intensives (5-day, in-person workshops in July), where you can dive into a variety of creative industries to see what interests you and experience BC’s booming industry.

That means you’re learning real-time from professionals who are masters of their industry and can answer your questions right on the spot.
