Job Scope
The SHVFS Film Production Instructor of Post Production will instruct and mentor students in technical and aesthetic video editing, post-production work flows, and associated creative techniques that include colour-grading, visual effects and other technologies. They will also supervise the post production and delivery of student projects in collaboration with other SHVFS Programs.
Core Responsibilities
1. Design and implement instructional activities and assessments for a lecture/lab setting that promote student learning and achievement in accordance with approved program course outlines and curriculum.
2. Collaborate with other members of SHVFS in developing, assessing, and revising curriculum.
3. Participate in Student Learning Outcomes development, assessment and reporting as required by the program and SHVFS.
4. Maintain appropriate records in accordance of the needs of the program and SHVFS
5. Support program instructionally-related activities by participating in meetings, program review, committees, projects, and other activites as time and schedule permit.
6. Maintain industry contacts keep abreast of changing technologies, and share information and insights with SHVFS.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program's Lead Instructor and SHVFS Educational Administration.
8. Work with the Director of Education and Vice President Education of SHVFS to develop new and evolving courses and a curriculum that integrates the various aspects of the program into a coherent, professional educational experience.
9. Oversee the present and future technical post production requirements of the SHVFS Film Production Program in collaboration with other SHVFS Programs and Administration.
Job Qualifications
An M.F.A degree in film production preferred, however, candidates with equivalent industry experience will be considered.
•Post-secondary-level teaching experience and a significant record of professional achievement with associated credits in the screen industry.
• Having worked in and understanding the Post Production Workflow for Narrative filmmaking - ideally fictional feature films.
•Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to lead workshops, lectures, and seminars
• Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Professional/Industrial level proficiency in the following softwares and technologies:
- Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (including Premiere, AE, etc)
- Davinci Resolve
- Protools and Avid
- DCP creation
- And other related software
